Animal Tribe Marathon Day in South Africa

Once upon a time in Limpopo, a province where there was no king among the animals. All animals wanted to be the leader of the province. All the animals wanting to become the leader of the Limpopo South Africa was an issue. However, some of the animals were not happy with the system of politics.

They believe that the one who is in power will benefit from everything more than everyone. They all wanted to have a good society culture in Limpopo. While forgetting that they should take care of everyone else in the province. There are six different animal tribes in the province. Amongst the tribes there is one leader representing their tribe. The first one is the lion’s , elephants’ , rabbit, tortoise,  eagle and monkey tribes.

Cultural differences

The province has a population of about 30 thousand animals. This province was one of a kind because it had many tribes of animals. Fights between different tribes used to happen. However,  they will all reach an agreement which will certify all parties. There was one tribe which thought it was better than other tribes. Another tribe which every tribe thinks is stupid.  Every tribe was not taking “stupid tribe” seriously. The tribes have different languages.

All of them were supposed to know 5 languages, including their own. When one tribe is communicating with another tribe, the tribe that is scared of another tribe is forced to be controlled on which language to use to communicate. The different tribes were fighting for equality in the province.

Four tribes agreed to participate in the marathon. Two tribes did not agree to take part because one tribe knew that they were slow and could not compete with another and the other tribes did not have confidence, as they were called  “stupid tribes”. Stupid tribes believed everything that the other tribes were saying. Some members of the “stupid tribes” died because of depression as the other members were emotionally abused by other tribes. The marathon was taking place at a race circuit in Polokwane, about a 16 km marathon race.

Lions are quite active during the night and may be found in a range of environments. The Lion tribe is the most powerful tribe among the tribes. Lion’s motivation to become a leader was that they were  able to protect all the tribe. They can use hunting skills to provide food in the drought season. This tribe was full of themselves. They keep saying obviously they will win the marathon. Lions spend a lot of time sleeping; they sleep for around twenty hours a day. While lions can be active at any time. They are most active after sunset.

The elephants are the world’s biggest living land animals, having a long trunk, columnar legs, and a massive head with temporal glands and broad, flat ears. The elephant tribe’s testimonial was that they are kind and good to others. They are able to make way for other animals as a path to walk that was never there. The elephant’s footprint can be useful to other animals when filled with water. This is the strongest tribe of them all. Elephants build waterholes using their tusks, trunks, and feet when water gets scarce. They not only benefit themselves, but they also help other creatures by providing water. They also occasionally expand irrigation holes so that they may be used for swimming.

An eagle’s structure and flight qualities are similar to those of a vulture. Its head is completely feathered (often crested), and its powerful feet are armed with large curved claws. The Eagle’s pride in being a leader was that they were able to see things from far away. They will be able to warn other tribes about any danger they see from miles away. This tribe can protect a tribe that is afraid of snakes. During periods of danger, they can hunt for shelter for everyone. They also can search for places where there’s water for the drought season.

The motivation of the rabbit tribe to be a leader is that they have indigenous knowledge of detecting something wrong that is about to happen. They are the cleverest tribe amongst others. The rabbit tribe has the tendency to trick or fool others. They all had the same height and others could not differentiate the leader of the group and just ordinary members. The tribe lived in a wetland area. The rabbit had hidden racism towards the elephant.

The tribe has a long life expectancy. What they bring to the table was the history of how things used to be. As it guides and gives everyone knowledge. The Tortoise tribe was acting as a teacher amongst other tribes. The tortoise tribe will always  talk about humanity and anthropology to everyone else. The tortoises have the strongest shell that they hide inside when they are not feeling safe. The Rabbit tribe state through their indigenous knowledge that the heart of the tortoise can even beat for about three years even if they are dead. They are the slowest tribe amongst others.

The tribe that everyone looked down on was the monkey tribe. They always have nothing to suggest to benefit the whole tribe. This tribe only knows how to be a clown all day. The tribe had little in common thinking, like humans, but no one knew about that. Monkeys are intelligent and sociable creatures. They were noted for effortlessly sprinting and jumping between tree branches. Monkeys, like apes and humans, are members of the primate family of animals. They  resemble apes, including chimps  and gorillas in appearance. On the other hand, they vary for apes in numerous respects.

Marathon day in South Africa

The lion, eagle, and elephant were training for the challenge. The monkey tribe were just relaxing, not doing anything. The rabbit was not training as they saw no need to train. One of the members of the lion tribe went to remove a few feathers of the eagle so that they could fly slowly. The monkey tribe saw everything but were scared to tell everyone and they also would not believe them. The elephant was training hard as it led to a few injuries to the ankle and shoulder. For the elephant to train so hard, it was suggested by the rabbit. The elephant went to the rabbit to ask for some advice and the rabbit lied to the elephant to limit competition.

On the marathon day, as they competed, the eagle fell down at about 6 km because the feathers were not enough to carry on flying during the competition. The tortoise  was in charge of being a referee and a commentator for the marathon. The elephant gave up at 3 km when a medical team came to help because the ankles of the elephant had shifted. The lion saw everyone else falling out of the competition, but it did not stop the lion from going forward.

The lion ended up being the winner and the rabbit being the second one. The rabbit was so excited to be the second one. The monkey came down and interrupted their celebration. The monkey tribe went to the rabbit and said” You won a silver medal, yes you won, but you are still a loser. The confidence of the rabbit was demolished.

During midnight of the marathon day

The monkey said: the lion is a cheater. The lion went straight to the monkey while opening the mouth to bite the monkey. The monkey ducked and slapped the lion, slapp! The lion falls back and the monkey starts telling them that the lion removed a few of the eagle’s feathers. It led to the lion admitting everything while asking for an apology.

They made the rabbit the leader of Limpopo Province. The elephant had to move to another province for medical health. After 1 year, they could not go to other areas in their province as the elephant refused to come back to clear block roads for them. The rabbit tribe ended up confessing that they tricked the elephant. They were affected by the absence of the elephant. The lion stopped protecting all the tribe, saying as the rabbit is the leader, they must show their leadership in everything. The eagle stopped doing what they do best, which is searching for areas where there’s enough water. The Tortoise could not handle the heat as they stayed quiet. This led the monkey to think like a human being. The monkey suggested that there should be departments where each and every tribe should provide service. Monkey came up with a strategy of code switching languages when communicating with other tribes to understand one another.

The End

The six tribes ended up making peace where there was no leader in Limpopo. Every single tribe will do what they do best. For example, Lion was all about protecting all the tribes in Limpopo. When it comes to decision making, they will all participate and, for the first time, the monkeys are part of decision  making. As there was peace in the Limpopo province amongst the tribes, most animals were leaving the country and province and travelling to South Africa. Limpopo province now has different kinds of animals. All the animals were living happily with each other.

Conflict Resolution Lessons

We may express a more inquisitive and caring attitude towards others when we focus on tuning in and calming ourselves down. Instead of protecting, responding, or counterattacking, we might try to comprehend the other person by listening. “No matter what we do, we can’t open ourselves up sufficiently to hear our partner’s words correctly while our whole attention is on self-defense.”wrote Siegel in Mindsight: The New Science of Personal Transformation. “Our state of mind can turn even neutral comments into fighting words, distorting what we hear to fit what we fear.”

The moral of the story

  • The leader must be there but he or she can not lead without other help.
  • Humanity is something that we should practise as always.
  • Everyone has something that they are good at. They should try and focus on that.
  • Everyone has their own weakness and they should focus on their strength, do what they do best.
  • promoting group decision making.
  • promoting living together as all no racism.
  • Failures can change the world like what the monkey did.
