Sands of Time came out in 2003. There has been a remastered version in the works for some time. But, the release date has been pushed back several times. We have been notified that this fantastic remake will be released sometime in 2022. The genre for this game is a mix of adventure, fantasy, hack and slash and puzzle. Meaning that there is a lot to keep you entertained if you desire to play it. This Ubisoft video game received an age certification of 12 and, as such, should be appropriate for younger audiences. But be aware that there are some scenes and themes that may not be suitable for everyone. The Sands of Time was given a rating of 8.5/10 on IMDB, which just goes to show how loved this game was and is, regardless of its age.

The story of this game follows a young Persian Prince whose father’s army raids a city which is home to the dagger of time. Unknowingly, the prince embeds the dagger into an hourglass which holds the sands of time and unleashes its power. The ancient sands of time infect everyone within the palace, turning them into sand monsters. Everyone except three people. The Prince, Farah and the Evil Vizier. Now the heroic Prince and Farah must use the dagger of time to defeat the Evil Vizier and put things back to the way they used to be.

A young man and Prince of Persia who fights alongside his father in battle. He is skilled in combat and acrobatics, which combine to create a deadly fighter. The prince is the hero of the story in every game. In the Sands of Time in particular, he is an eager warrior who is tricked by the Vizier and is duty bound to put things right.

The antagonist of both The Sands of Time and Two Thrones. In this game, he is an advisor to the Maharajah of India. He has put an evil scheme in place to gain immortality using the ancient sands of time and betraying the Maharajah to the Sharaman of Babylon. The Prince’s father.

My Opinion of the Game

The Prince

I loved this game. It was never the prettiest when it came to graphics and animations. But the way that you play the game and the way the characters are portrayed makes this game simply fantastic. It is full of adventure, comedy, and has a great story which is told fantastically well. I loved the combat this game had to offer. The acrobatics and the death animations make it really fun to handle. That mixed in with the way you interact and move through the environment makes for a fun game overall.

When I heard that there was going to be a remastered game for Prince of Persia, I was really excited. This game almost had the best story of them all and was both interesting and funny. I truly look forward to the remastered game, but I would recommend anyone to play the original version as well. Just because it is fantastic.

Can You Still Play Prince of Persia?

There are always the older consoles you can enjoy this game on for now. PC or the old Xbox or Playstation are available if you want to play this game imminently. However, with the new remastered Sands of Time game coming out, we should be able to play it on the newer consoles when it is released.

In Which Order Should I Play Prince of Persia?

There are several games and, as such, there is a specific order you should be playing them in if you want to enjoy the story as it is played out through the games.

  2. The Fallen King – 2008
  3. The Sands of Time – 2003/2022
  4. The Forgotten Sands –  2010
  5. Battles of the Prince of Persoa – 2005
  6. Warrior Within – 2004
  7. The Two Thrones – 2005

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Warrior Within was released in 2004 by Unisoft. This game, much like Sands of Time, mixes adventure, fantasy, hack and slash and puzzle. But, this game has a much darker twist and is a little more gruesome when it comes to the imagery. The age certification for this game is ‘M’, which in reality means that this is a game for mature audiences. The themes are not child friendly and there is semi-nudity and gore, which may not be appropriate for younger audiences. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within was given an 8.6/10 on IMDB, which shows that it is marginally better than Sands of Time. This might be because of the more adult themes of the game, which an older audience can appreciate more.

My Opinion of the Game

Warrior Within

Once again, I loved this game. It was geared toward older audiences more than the previous game and I appreciated that. The story only gets more interesting as the game series goes on and Warrior Within is no exception. The animation was much improved and looked pretty cool, regardless of the blatantly scantily clad females.

I felt that the game handles better than the last and I loved the creatures and enemies you got to fight in this game. It brought a more dark and fantastical story to light and I loved that about Prince of Persia Warrior Within.

The Prince

The hero of the story is an almost completely different character in Warrior Within. He is chased by an ancient beast set on killing him. All because of his actions in Sands of Time. He has become a dark, callous yet driven form of his former self and it shows in his actions and mannerisms.

Kaileena

The Empress of Time, she is a supporting character in Warrior Within and the key to whether the Prince lives or dies. She must stop him from disrupting his fate in order to make sure that time flows as it should.

The Dahaka

Also known as the Guardian of time, the Dahaka is a great beast which must kill the Prince in order to make right the timeline which was disrupted. He hunts the Prince in order to restore the timeline. Only the death of the heroic main character can fix what has been broken.

How many Endings are there in  Prince of Persia: Warrior Within?

If you do not want spoilers, do not read ahead. When the Prince forces the Empress of Time into the Present with him, there is a point where you can pick between two alternate endings. Which ending you get depends on whether you have all the life upgrades and a special primary weapon known as the Water Sword.

Will there be a  Prince of Persia: Warrior Within Remake?

There is no real concrete information or mention of there being a remake. However, after the Sands of Time remake, maybe we will get lucky.

Is Prince of Persia: Warrior Within a Good Game?

Personally, I would say yes, it is not my personal favourite of the Prince of Persia games, but it is interesting and integral to the story, which in my book makes it at least good. Plus, with a rating of 8.6/10, it must be good to some degree. Right?

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones

The Two Thrones was released in 2004 by Ubisoft as a culmination of the previous games. The genre is a mixture of action, adventure, fantasy, hack and slash and puzzle. Making is once again an interesting uniform game and follows the themes of the previous games. The age certification of this game is also an ‘M’. As such, the audience for it should be mature. As there are themes and imagery which may not be appropriate for younger audiences. Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones was given an 8.5/10 on IMDB, which once again shows that these games are excellent across each game.

My Opinion of the Game

Prince of Persia

This was my favourite of the Prince of Persia games so far. The animation was one of the more beautiful, along with the 2008 Prince of Persia. The game play has stayed much the same but has improved in smoothness, I feel. It brings to the plate everything we love about the Prince of Persia and, of course, continues the epic saga of the Prince.

Overall, with the characters, story and gameplay, this game is excellent. It mixes so many things together that it just works. It may be a bit dated along with the other Prince of Persia games, but as a whole, I truly still love them and would recommend anyone to play them at least once.

The Daughter of the Maharajah returns, since the events of the first game did not happen. The princess of India does not know or remember the Prince even though he knows her from past adventures. Farah is on a mission to take back the dagger of time and stop the evil Visier again with the help of the Prince.

The Vizier is once again on a quest to gain immortality and succeeds until the prince puts a stop to him. He gets infected by the sand and turns into a creature known as Zurvan who has god-like abilities.

Is there a Prince of Persia: Two Thrones Sequel?

Sadly, Two Thrones is the final chapter to the Sands of Time Trilogy. But it is not the last Prince of Persia game to be released. You can enjoy the 2008 Prince of Persia or even the Forgotten Sands.
